Jesse's Problem

There are 7 girls on a bus. Each girl has 7 backpacks. In each backpack there are 7 big cats. Each big cat has 7 small cats. How many legs are on the bus? The bus driver does not count. The backpacks are on the bus and do not have legs. Wheels on the bus do not count!

YOU MUST EXPLAIN IN WORDS YOUR THINKING AND CALCULATIONS!!!

Good luck :-)

Hint: The answer is a 5 digit number.

10990 legs is the answer.
Seven cats for one cat. Seven times 4 equals 28. 28 x seven = 196. That’s the small cats. 28 legs for the big cats, so 196+28 =224. 224 times seven =1568. 1568 times seven equals 10976.Seven girls have two legs each, so that’s 14. 14 plus 10976 equals 10990.

the answer is 10990.
i took 7 times 2
then49 times 7=343
then 343 times 4=1372
then 343 times 7=2401
then 2401 times 4=9601
then 14+2401+9604=10990

I did this be cause people have two legs. I multiplied the rest by 4 because most cats have 4 legs.

First i figured out that there was 343 big cats total so that would total to be 1372 big cat legs. Then i figured that there was 2401 little cats which = 9604 little cat legs. So then if you added the total ammoutn of cat legs and the total ammount of legs for the big cats + the girls legs which would be 14 legs. Then if you added them all together it would equal to 10990 legs total on the bus.

the answer was- 10,990 total legs on the bus not inculding the bus driver, the backpacks, or the bus wheels.

Oh my gosh this was so hard to figure out next time would you please make it easier for me? Well at least it helped me with doing math.

Thank you,

TOTAL=10,992 legs
There are 7 girls on the bus; 14 legs. And each girl has 7 backpacks of their own; 49 with no legs. There are 343 big cats in all the backpacks total; 1372 legs. There are 7 small cats per big cat, making a total of 2401 small cats. That makes 9604 more legs from the small cats. With two more legs from the bus driver. Making a whopping total of 10,992 legs on one bus!

I got 2758 by taking 7 times 2 for the girls' legs. Then found how many big cats there where which is 49 then found how many little cats there are and there are 343 and took both of those numbers times 7 and then added my total together and got 2758.
