Monday, February 13th

Please answer the following blog based on your grade level. Make sure you include your name in your post or you will not receive credit! If you get done and have time, you may choose to answer another grade level blog.

6th: Can you develop a proposal for how a reading class should be taught in 6th grade? How much time should be spent independently reading? Blogging? Doing projects? Read alouds? Is there something that is missing from reading class? As a teacher, what would you do in a middle school reading classroom?

8th: You may choose one of the following 2 questions to answer:
What does Chip learn about himself? Do you think a kid has the right to know whether or not they are adopted? Why or why not? Defend your answer. Do you think you would want to know about your birth parents or would you be content as Jonah seems to be?

or

Katherine tells Jonah, “…If you’re going through some adolescent ‘Who am I?’ phase, it’s not because you’re adopted. Everyone goes through that. I don’t know who I am either.” (p. 54) Do you feel like this? Do you wonder how others will define you? Do you care?

7th: Reality TV has been a part of the entertainment world since the early days of television (Miss America, Candid Camera, etc.), but in the 21st century there has been a tremendous growth of competitive shows and survival shows. Discuss this phenomenon with respect to The Hunger Games.  What other aspects of popular culture do you see reflected in the story?

We should have two full read days, one half and half days and two you read to us days. Blogging is good how we have it.We should have a week of in class project time. If i was a reading teacher I would do class exactly how you're going it plus my suggestions.

Trevor Taylor said...

Less reading time, i think we should have around 2-3 days a week of free reading, blogging is fine how it is, projects about 5 days on big projects, 2-3 read alouds a week, no, the class is fine, the same as you because i would have no clue what to do.

I think we we need less reading to our selves and more read aloud time. I think we should blog at least every library day. For me the amount of time we have to work on projects is fine with me. I don't think that there's anything I do different other than what I'v all ready blogged. If I was the teacher I would keep everything the same other than what I other than what I'v said that I think needs to be changed.

reading class should have equal time slots for ipendent reading,read-aloud,and other things. We should spend thirty minutes read-aloud and twenty min indepenet reading. If we are doing profects we should spend the entire day working on it.The that is missing is the computers so that we may do projects that require internet or microsoft software. As a teacher I would do all the things I've said and sometimes let the students read some passages.

i think that we need to change how much time we spend reading ithink that we should spend 2 days reading and the rest of the week doing activities and have some fun on those days.but it is really boring reading all day every day.i also think that we should not blog so much because that gets boring and i get cramps in my fingers.i think that we should have more time doing our projects.I think that u should read aloud more.

I think that three out of the five school days should be independent read days. I also think the grading should be based on the difficulty of the books we read and how many we read. I think the quarter projects should be a little smaller part of the grade because if we mess up on the project we'll get a bad grade for the end of the quarter. I do agree that doing a blog every other week is reasonable. If I was the one teaching, I would grade a bit more on reading since this is reading class. I feel like the grading is on writing more than reading.

I think we should have to read to ourselfs two times for thirty minutes every week. Then maybe with our left over time we could discuss about what we're reading. We could have read alouds two days a week for the same amount of time. Then discuss, and we could blog once a week. I also so think we shold have a new project to do every month so no one, even if its a good book they're reading, gets bored with reading almost every day. The only thing I think is missing from this class is excitement. As a teacher I would make the classroom look and feel happy and exciting. I would also follow what I've already typed.

I think that we should spend half of the class time reading by ourselves and then spend the other half for read alouds. If there is a project I think we should have 4 class peroids to do it.I think that blogging every other week is fair because if we blogged every week it will get boring.Reading class schedule should be reading on Monday, read aloud on Tuesday, half of the time reading and half the time read aloud on Wednesday and Thursday, and games on Friday.I think that we should be able to bring chips to class. If I were a teacher I would pick kids to read aloud since I would get tired reading all the time.

Jonny Quezada said...

30 minutes should be spent independent reading, 13 minutes on blogging, 2 weeks on projects, and almost the entire period on read aloud. Something missing would may be teaching reading skills (maybe). If I were a reading teacher, I would do projects, journals, independent reading, ect.

Jayson Sayasone said...

I think That we should be practicing the NEsa more often since it is the biggest test in Nebraska and it states how good your classes are.We should be doing independent reading half the time and reading out loud on the other. Blogging should be half the time since we need to read the new books we have. Whenever we have projects we should be doing this all day since it takes up a big part of your overall grade. If I was a teacher I would be doing these things that I stated

If I could teach a class I would have the class read for at least 40 minutes two times a week. I would have more projects. There fun! But they dont all have to be difficult we could also just have daily projects as well. We sould blog once a week!We should have read aloud once or twice a week depending on other learning targets. We also should have a book that can post what kinds of books or what books we whant you to read for read aloud.

My proposal is that a 6th grade reading class should be taught with respect and grade level vocabulary, that way the students could increase their knowlage. We should be reading at least 10 to 15 minutes by ourselves everyday. Whenever we blog there should be a different question every time. Projects should be grade level work and should be given 5 to 7 days to complete them unless its a bigger assignment. Read alouds should be read more often to students. Sometimes kids dont want to read but we still like to hear people read to US! And maybe one day the teacher could randomly call on someone to read instead of the teacher. One thing that is missing from reading classes is more class disscussions. thetopic could be books, themes or something to do with the reading skills. As a middle school reading teacher i would do everything that I just said and talked about.

Alaina Morgan said...

Hello, I think that our class should be longer, and that you should read to us more often than once a week. I think we should read three times one week and then the next week we read twice, then three times then two times and so on. We should do blogging every 2 weeks like we are I like the amount of blogging we do as a class. I think that we should have read alouds more often like two times a week. The only thing really missing in Mrs.Konechne's class is a book shelf with books you can check out to us so we dont have to go to the library every time we need a book. As a reading teacher i'd reward my students for every 10 books they read. i'd also teach alot about the metaphors, similies, hyperbolies, ect.

I think that we should at least read 30 minutes a day,so we can enjoy our book.I also think that it's good that we blog every three weeks.Doing projects is good for us i would say once every couple months, and we should get at least a week to get them done.I think read alouds should be like 25 minutes long and twice a week.I do not think anything is missing from reading class, everything so far is fantastic. In a middle school class room I would let the kids read what they want to read and, make them feel confortable about what they are reading and where they are reading at,so they can enjoy the their book at all times

i think we should have two days to read each week. One day each week for blogging. One project each mounth. Read alouds one time a week. There is nothing missing in that we need in this class. If I were a reading teacher I would try to get thr kids to blog on their own time and in class time.

We should spend even more time on read aloud. And Independent reading is A ok amount of time.We should do projects once a month. As a teacher i would assign fun projects. And Blogs twice a month.

Dominick Payer said...

I think we should have more read time because if the teacher keeps reading to us we don't have time to read for our selves. Think about it if you don't read the amount of books you're suppose to then you have to go to summer school wich is not a happy place. Haven't we all been to summer school. That is why I want more read time.

hayden comstock said...

I think that independent reading should be done atleast twice a week. Read alouds could be done once or twice a week to help kids calm down their brains. I would recomend projects every two weeks or less because gives them a fun visual way of explaining something. Also"you read to me and I read to you"'s are something that could be done once a week or so to help them with fluency. Another thing is that at the end of every class there should be a four or five minute discussion about the class.

Alaina Morgan said...

About projects I think we should do more projects not nessarily the same project but new projects.

Chip learns that he was adopted.

Yes , A child does deserve the right to know if they are adopted. They deserve the right to know because then the will know more about themselves.

I would like to know about my birht parent sotherwise I wouldn't know what my heritage is and who I am related to .

Augusta Thramer said...

i am picking the 1st question. I think its better to not tell the kid their adopted because they waste a bunch of time figuring out who they are or where their from. while they're doing this they could be out getting a job. why don't they live normal it doesn't matter about the past worry about the future! If I was in that position I wouldn't want to know because i probably wouldn't look at my parents the same way or just know I don't belong in that family. Also I would be thinking about it all the time like so some lady and think she could be my mom, or go to a town and think I could have been born here. I would want to live normal.

Rheannon Johnson said...

Chip learns about how he is actually adopted like his friend jonah. A child, to me, should have the right to know if they are adopted or not, only if they want to know though. If I was adopted, then I guess that it would be nice to know who my real birth parents were, but I wouldn't really want to know because not know who they were would make my life more of a mystery that I could solve.

yadirabautista:) said...

Chip learns that his parents were adoptive. They never told him the truth about his birth. I think that any kid should know if they're adopted or not because when they do find out, they'll feel hurt because they've been lied to for so long. If they feel lied to, the connection they have with their parents will be affected. I would be happy not knowing who my birth parents are because I would know that my adoptive parents would love me and always protect me.

krista phoumy said...

i think every kid has the right to knnow their birth parents even if the parents were bad. if you never even told them thell be angry when they find out on their own.if you were adopted you would want to know your past right? so instead of createing distrust when they find out just tell them.

ArmandoCalderon said...

If I were adopted I would like to find out about my birth parents. I would like to find out why i was put up for adoption because if there was a good reason for why i was put up for adoption like if my parents were too young or didn't have the money for a child. If that would be the reason then I would understand why, and I would like to meet them and get to know them as I got older. On the other hand, if my birth parents didn't keep me for no reason then I wouldn't want to find out about them and would be content as Jonah was.

Yes, I think a kid deserves to know if they are adopted or not. Why would they want to live their life thinking that the people living in their house are their actual family when they're not. If I was adopted and my "family" never told me, I would be beyond furious because if they never told me they probablly would have a really good reasosn or they are trying to hide something really important. I would also want to know about my birth parents, if their was a way I could get a hold of them I would. Who wouldn't want to know who their real mom and dad are?

Adolfo Gomez said...

He learns he was adopted and is an important person in history. Kids should have the right to know if there adopted because you would feel like your being lied to and most of the time you wont look anything lik your parents so people could tell that ur diffrent. If i was adopted i would want to know about my birth parent who they were why they couldnt take care of me and if they could still be a part of my life.

I chose the second choice. I think Katerine has a point. She talks about who (and how) she is becoming. I don't necessarily feel like this. Sometimes though, I do have to re-think some things. I don't think people know the "real" me unless I chose to let them, like my friends and family. Of course I wonder sometimes what people do think of me, it doesn't usually phase me. I don't care what most people have to say about me.

Chip Learns that he is adopted. Yes, I think every child has the right to learn where they came from. Even if you don't tell them sometimes they can just tell something is different. It is better off to tell them at an early age where they can comprehend it than later when there searching for their identity in life. If your not their real parents then you should tell them that, and go through it together as a family would. If you were adopted wouldn't you want to know? Remember, most children who are adopted have a good life, but that doesn't always bring you happiness.

First Question

I think a kid does have the right to know if they are adopted or not.Well it doesnt really matter as long as your adoptive parents are nice and they treat your right. So yea they do have the right to know but that really wont change anything.I would like to know who my birth parents are because i would want to know where im from and everything like that.I would have a lot of questions to ask them.I think Chip learns that, i dont know! He learns that he was adopted,he also learns that he is from the 14th century

Sarah Sandusky said...

Yes, there are times when I feel like I don't know who I am or who I'm supposed to be. But at other times, I feel like I do know who I am and I'm living up to expectations set by myself. All the time I'm wondering how other people see me and how they will remember me. Sometimes I care about how I look to other people, and then later, I feel like it was a waste of time. It doesn't matter to me that other people judge me by what they see because they don't take the time to find out how I really am. I will find myself eventually and that's all that matters to me.

First Question:In the book, Found, Chip learns not only that he is adopted but he is also from the 1500's. Because Chip's parents never told he was adopted, he freaked out when he learned about it. I think that every kid has the right to know that they are adopted. It is better for them to grow up knowing that then to one day find out in a really bad way. I know that I wouldn't want to find out I was adopted by me being in the hospital and not being able to recieve anything from my family because I was adopted. It would make the whole situation worse. Also if I knew I was adopted I think that I would like to find out about my birth parents or atleast something about me so I dont think I would be content as Jonah with as little informationn he has on his family.

Aalyiah Rollins said...

I don't really understand the question, "Do you know who you are?" Of course I know who I am, if your asking, if I know how to define myself, I would say for the most part. I'm only 14, I haven't lived long enough to know exactly who I am, what I like and dislike, and my stlye for example. I haven't really experimented, so to say, with style, I kind of just go with the flow of things. Do I wonder how people will define me? Doesn't everybody? I don't want people to think I'm bad and I don't want them to think I'm a goody goody either. But I don't really care anymore. I used to care what everybody thought of me, but now, I could care less. I live how I want to live, not how others think I should. I have been kind of living by the modo,"Be who you want to be, not what others want to see." If they want to define and judge me, they obviously have no life of their own.

AlfredoAceves said...

Well I'll go with number two. Yeah I find myself wondering that question all the time. Sometimes it helps. Other times yeah not so great. Everyone now a days seems to care about who they are. But some just keep lying and pertend to be someone they're not. I definently know who I am, but if other people don't then they are confused. You have to be yourself and make things happen happen. You can't just wonder and sit around till you get an idea. Go out there and do womething with your life. Enough said, so go figure out who you are

Shanelle Johnson said...

Chip learns that he is adopted and that his parents were lying the whole time. I think every child has the right to know where they came from. In my opinion if I went home tonight and got told I was adopted I would feel horrible. I would have no idea who I really was, if I was living a lie, and never trust my parents again. If I were to already know, I could deal with it and still be open with my adoptive parents. It's important to have an open relationship with your family and I think it's HORRIBLE to not let your son or daughter know if they are actually blood related. I always have been interested in genetics and what if they never got told they look like there family or want to know why they have a certain color of eyes. Plus, it's not very fun getting lied to. Even though I think it's a good thig to get told your adopted, I wouldn't be content like Jonah is. I would need to know why they did't keep me, what they look like, what they do for a living, etc. I would feel so much better if I could feel like I knew them and maybe even contact them because then you know it was probably best for you to get adopted. And I would want tons of pictures, you have to know what charateristics you got from who. Anways, I think it's wrong to keep something from someone; every child has the right to know where they came from and know as much as they want about those people.

Kids have a right to know if they are adopted. When they look past the confusion and anger, they'll know it was only better to tell them now than having them find out on their own later. I personally think that knowing is much better than not knowing because it gives them a reason to trust their parents.

1. That he's adopted and his parents didn't tell him. And that he's a baby from the past.
2. Yes, I think you have the right to know if you're adopted. Why? Because it's their life. Maybe they want to know who they look like, or where they're from! Parents shouldn't lie to a kid about HIS/HER life! It's not theirs to choose. It's like lying to a kid about what his name is or something.
3. Yes, I'd like to know who my birth parents were. Because tyen I could know who I got my physical traits from, why they gave me up, and where my roots lie/where I'm from. Curiousity would drive me nuts!

I do believe a kid has the right to know if they are adopted. If I were to adopt a kid i would want to tell them because that like hidding who they really are. After so many years Chip learned that he is adopted.I think every kids have the right to know that they are adopted because they might have questions about sickness that you dont have but there birth parents do.Also they might want to know what kind of person there birth parent are so they can be better person than they were. They also might one day want to meet their birth parents family and spend time with them since there not the ones that gave them up.I would like to know who my birth parents are if i were adopted.Who knows mabe they could of died or just gave me up there are reasons and i for sure would like some answeres. And if they had more kids i would for sure want to meet them.even more if your only child at home.

Chip learns that the people he has lived with his entire life aren't actually his real birth parents. He finds out that he is adopted by them. I think every kid has the right to know if they are adopted or not.Sooner or later they will want to go back into their family history and how would that feel being really old and barely finding out that your adopted? And then finding out your parents aren't your real birth parents. I would feel like they lied to me all that time. If they would lie to me so I wouldn't feel bad, it would just make me feel worse. It would be better if parents tell their kids that they are adopted when they are young, but not too young where they don't understand what adoption is. If I was like Jonah, I think I would be really curious about my birth parents and wonder alot but I think I would be pretty contenet and not really want to find them or learn about them that much. I would probably think that there is a certain reason why I am adopted but I wouldnt't want to know it because I am happy how I am ( Well if i was Jonah because he is happy how he is so he doesn't really have to know the reason why he is adopted.)

Chip learned that he had been "lied" to all his life, because he always think that the two people who are taking care of him now are his [real] birth parents. He learned that he is not their real child.
I think that it's all in the parents' choice/opinion whether or not to let the child know if they're adopted or not. Some parents want to 'protect' their children from the truth while others just want to be all honest Abe-like and straight up tell the kid.
I think, based on Jonah's and Chip's attitude towards the adopted thing, the children has the right to know that they are adopted. I mean, look at Jonah, he known all his life that he was adopted but he is just fine and normal. On the other hand, Chip never knew. When Chip found out, he [KIND OF] 'overreacted' or 'freaked out'. In my opinion, I don't think the child shouldn't freak out at all. If I were to find out that I was adopted, I would simply not freak out, but rather find out why I had been put up for adoption in the first place. My parents could have both died, or they were abusive, who knows? Anyways, if the child was treated right and had been happy all their life growing up, they should not get mad at the parents or do something they might regret.
I think that more than likely all adoptees would want to know who ther real parents are. I, personally, would want to know if I were adopted. I would seek answers like why they abandoned me, what caused it, etc.
Jonah lives a happy life, in my point of view. If he doesn't care who gave birth to him, but rather pay attention to the two parental figures who had taken care of him, then that's him. He shows that he cares for the people around him more than people who left him.

People love to see suspense and danger, but just not in their life. They are fine seeing people struggle to survive if they don't know them. If every single person knew the people on a show that has people almost die, they wouldn't like it. The Capitol definitaly is comunist, and doesn't like the districts. The world in the districts went backwards. Today, almost everyone has a TV, electricity, and even food, but for the districts they are lucky to have electricity once a week if the Games are not on. The Capitol made sure they passed all the other districts, so they could keed an iorn girp on the districts, so that the don't lose power.

I think that they realate because now every body pretty much craves ecitement. What I mean by that is that every one wants to see how much people want to earn something like how in the Hunger Games they fight for freedom and wealth similar to today's game shows. Also they're similar because both of them have twists like how game shows always do something to keep the viewer interested so they get attention.

Britney Vongdara said...

I think the reality tv industry has grown because people like to compare and relate themselves to the people, it gives them hope that normal people can do those things, and observe all the relationships between the people in the show, like Katniss and Peeta's "passion" for each other.

Jose Mendoza said...

I think that the Hunger Games is like a reality t.v show where the capital first did it to show the districts that they were in charge, but as the years went on they saw that the people enjoyed how the poor kids beat the crackers out of each other. So the capital made it a sport. I think this realtes to today's reality show's. But in today's society I think that reality shows are just a way to get people entertained but today they don't entertain people by killing them they entertain them by giving them drama.

Natalie Akins said...

The game show Battle Of The Exes reminds me a lot of The Hunger Games because I think Peeta and Katniss really do like each other and its not just an act for them. In Battle Of The Exes its teams of exes fighting to be the last standing and every moment the teammates are falling in and out of love through out the whole challenge which in The Hunger Games Peeta and Katniss are trying to be the last team standing and I think Katniss begins to like him more and more. The Hunger Games also reminds me of The Survivor because they both have to always be on the look out for food and water. They both also cant mess around or their predators will get to them.

Martin Medina said...

The rising of these type of shows has a lot to do with popularity. In the Hunger Games the games are being brodcasted all over the country. People watch them because they like the action and thrill of each death (and they're forced to). Same with tv today. The Hunger Games is based on the action/surviving point of people . That is why it's so popular.

Galdino Guzman said...

In today's world, they have survivor shows because they like to see them suffer. Same thing in The Hunger Games. Feel the pain! It's kinda like a cheesy drama show with the Katniss Peeta thing. In general, the Hunger Games is like today's reality TV plus the I KILL YOU part.

Kaitlyn Agee said...

The Hunger Games is like a reality, competitive, and survival TV show. I think since many people are beginning to watch more survival and competitive shows, that's why The Hunger Games has become more popular. Competition and survival shows may be more popular because the people that watch these shows, might believe chaos and destruction will come to the world, like the Hunger Games. People might also watch these shows because reality TV shows are becoming repetitive and survival and competition shows entertain in a different way.

zeta nguyen said...

They want to see drama and adventure between people. The Hunger Games is simular to the survival shows, because the people try hard to live.It is different, because in the book the capital wants to show that they rule all the districts, but in reality shows they just want to entertain.

micah deharty said...

I think the reason people are so fasonated with shows like Survivor because you never know what's going to happen next so you just keep wanting to watch it over and over. This is the same reason I think people would watch the Hunger Games too because they want to see the bloodshed and they want to see who is the best of the twenty-four tributes.

Clancey Gill said...

I think that we should have one more read aloud day just so we can get on with the book. Also I think that we should put up a sheet of paper in the class room for book suggestions so we can get started after we finish a book. We should leave the bloging how it is. Last I think we should start watching more home made book commercials online.

Autumn Campbell said...

I think that people like to see teams compete against eachother. People especially like to see a boy and a girl on a team who may possibly have feelings for eachother. Today and in the Hunger Games, people like to see the drama between the people. Today we have shows where couples compete as a team against other teams. In the Hunger Games they started out competing against the other person from their district, but the Capitol made a change. Now both people can win from each district. Obviously you can tell the Capitol and everyone else are obsessed with Katniss and Peeta and the fact that they 'love' eachother. Television programs are like that today too. They try to make people fall in love on purpose and hope they get in to some sort of fight to create more drama for the show. Personally, I'm happy they do this. It makes me want to watch the show and not turn it. I think thats what they hope for too. I also think thats what they hope for in the Hunger Games.

Nina Ong said...

Surivival shows, like The Hunger Games, deal with surviving at extreme places and not knowing how you will turn out, people nowadays like watching something unknown or something that gives them entertainment from their peaceful lives. The Hunger Games basically has unskilled children(skilled if they're from the districts willingly wanting the prize and have been training their whole lives to compete) braving the area of the Game Makers choosing, we like reading this because of the untrained ability that the tributes show while trying to survive. Most people like watching something interesting and that's how survival shows keep going on, they want to see to what extremes the people in them will go to survive. The Hunger Games' Capitol citizens love watching dramatic violence displayed in the tributes; to do that the Game Makers have different ways to keep the people jumping in their seats to whatever will happen to like, the Star-crossed Lovers of District 12:Peeta+Katniss.

I think that kids and adults enjoy more competitive shows because they are exiting and you get really into them and cant stop watching them. And if the tv show is competitive you can choose who you want to win. Reality shows also show other peoples lives and whaty they do. If you have a problem you can also watch a show and maybe it could help you with your problems. Some people just watch to learn about other peoples lives. The Hunger Games is like todays world because it shows how some people live like the tributes some are poor and some are rich and they do not like eachother bacause of how they live. And it also shows that like todays world many people fight to live for their families.

In the movie," The Condemned", a group of web show host decide to take a selected number of people from prisons and place them in a area that has all they need to survive, trees, shelter, water, and a food source. the contestants must fight eachother to the finish, during the games the players receive packages that will help them in battle or just to give them something so the giver wont lose their bet. in the HUNGER GAMES, the activities named happen in the book.

The Hunger games reminds me of Battle of the Exes. In this show they fall in and out of love just like Peeta and Katniss. They dont know how the other persons feels or their emotions towards eachother. They also have to go through different stages everyday to go on in the game, they never know what is going to come at them. At the end of the show/game two people (The partners) get to win, exactly the same as the The Hunger Games since the rules have changed.

There should be two days of indepentent reading because that is what reading class is all about. We should blog twice a month just for fun. We shouldn't have big projects because those just make you nervous then you get a bad grade when you don't deserve it. You should just give out like two or three question quizzes. And then at the end of the week give out a test with all the questions on the quizzes. Yes there is something that is missing in reading class and that is just having fun. Like for example we should have the last 5 minutes of class just to mess around and take all the stress out of us.

I think we are amused to survivor kind of types of shows because, we want to know how to surviive out in the open by ourselves. Also some people enjoy watching people suffer through hunger and, illnesses. It's not just entertainment though it's also informative. The Hunger Games relate to survivor because, the kids are trying to survive in an arena with animals and very small amount of food. Also they have to fight for the food because there is other people fighting for the food and so are some of the animals that don't get killed. That is why i think that the Hunger Games is related to a survivor type of book.

I think a reading classroom should have about 10 minutes a day of read-aloud at the beginning of class. Thursday should still be an all read-aloud day. We should keep Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays as free reading and Tuesdays as a lesson day. When we have projects, we should have at least three days to work on it in class. This class is very well organized and fun except 10 minutes read-aloud a day would be nice.

The need of entertainment by the people is growing and growing and the Hunger Games helps satisfy that need. Also, the different styles of dress in the Capital is like now, people try to make a statement by dressing...how would you say, spontainiously. That allows them to make the statemnet that they are the best because they can AFFORD to dress like that, unlike in the Districts where money is almost always scarce. The Hunger games is like all of the survival/competition shows we watch combined. It has a sense of Survivorman, Survivor, and REALLY intense The Bachelorette.

The people world are action hungry and love drama filled reality shows. The same goes for the capital in "The Hunger Games". There is always people who hate eachother and allies in reality shows just to have audiences like the show better which is what the capital is trying to do in "The Hunger Games'.

We should have two days of reading alone. Blogging is fine just like we have it. We should have a week and a half to do projects, but in class we should get 3 days where we can work on it. You are good as a teacher, your always keeping the class exciting.

Reality T.V. as grown because we (america) like watching shows where people do things that we in our regular life would do. And for some reason people enjoy this. The Hunger games is a survival show that only one or two can survive and people enjoy the fact that people get eliminated until one remains. Why they actually kill people in that game is anyones guess. And if the hunger games did actually happen that would probably take survival shows just a little too far

I think that maybe people just want to see things in a more realistic view. Maybe people today and in the Hunger Games are tired of cartoons and predictable movies where the good guy always win. The people in the reality shows probably want to make themselves more important or become rich so they could become overnight celeberies until everyones forgets them.In the Hunger Games though, the contestants are forced to entertain the Capital by killing the other contestants. The winners get plenty of prizes, as well as braging rights and fame.People look up to them as possibly heroes so my guess is that people simply want to find their heroes of to worship someone with admirable deeds.

I think we should read to oursleves three days a week and then two days a week and then three days a week and then two and so on.. We should have a read outloud once every week we would have independent reading three times and for every week we would have with two independant reading days, we would have two read out louds. One thing I would want to change about our class is to pick where we get to sit. No seating chart. It would also be nice to have more activities because i get really bored and tired when im just sitting still. Other than that I like everything the way uit is.

I think that people get excited about the reality shows because they an easily relate to them (usually have alot of drama). People also get facinated in the survival games because the cast is looking to survive and have a chance to win money. The hunger games is related to these shows because they have to fight to win in most cases. In The Hunger Games their life is put in jeapordy they make drastic moves in order to survive.

The Hunger Games is like reality television and award shows in many different ways. And there are also the various things that separate them from one another. The Oscars for example: Not everyone can win the award for "Best Picture." And not everyone can win in the Hunger Games. Many may come so close but still manage to be so far away from the victor. And the people on the outside who have been rooting for them to win- they will just have to try to accept that their "number one" lost. Suviving is the goal for most who participate in the Hunger Games. And much like Man Vs Wild; you'll have to face many different challenges and learn how to make do. Whether it be finding a temporary shelter or hunting for food. The only difference is that in the Hunger Games you are at war with other peole and must know how to manipulate them.
