8/30 Prob of Day

On Bill's football squad, 1/3 of the players walk to practice and 25% are driven by their parents. The remaining 15 players take the bus. How many members are on the football squad? Give your answer and then EXPLAIN very thoroughly in 3-4 sentences how you got your answer.

30 people. take 30, divide it by 3, then take two thirds, which is 20, minus 25%, and you get the answer. I think...

the answer is 30 because I took 10*3=30. And then i took 30-10=20. then i took 20/5=5, 20-5=15

there are 43 players. my reason for this answer is
1/3= 4/12 and 1/4=3/12
1/3 divided by 1/4= 13 1/3=15
15+15+13=43

there are 36 players on bill's football team. because you have to multiply 1/3 and 1/4 so you know that the fractions go into the number and you get 1/12. then you have too multiply 1/3 and 1/4. you will get 4/12 and 3/12. then you divide 15 by 3 which is 5 or 5/12. so 9 people get driven there, 12 people walk and 15 peolple ride the bus which is 36 people

22 players, 1/3x4 + 1/4x3 = 7/12 which is 7 football players. i got the 1/4 because 1/4 is equivalent to 25%. 1/3x4= 4/12 and 1/4x3 = 3/12 so 4/12 + 3/12 = 7/12. Now take the 7 from the 7/12 and add it to the 15 other players and you get 22 players on the football team.

36 players. 1/3 +25 % = 58% so 100% -58% =42% so 36 * .42 =15. something then you round down so 36

1/3 + 1/4= 7/12. 7/12 in percent form is 58%. So if you take 100 percent and subtract 58 percent you get 42 percent which woulod be the remaining 15 players that bus to practice. Therefore if you use the guess and check method like I used I came up with 36 total players on the team. =]

If you take 1/3 times .25 you get 58%.
100-58= 42%
36 times .42= 15
36 times 1/3= 12
36 times .25= + 9
____
36 players

Andrea Konz said...

1/3*.25=58
100-58=42%
.42*36=15.12

so there are 36 players on their team.

I got that there are 36 football players on the team. I used trial and error to figure out my answer. After a while I noticed it had to be divisible by 3 and 4, so basically by 12, because you need 5 equal parts to make 25% and you need 3 equal parts for 1/3. I was Multiplying 25& and 1/3 by my multiples of 12 until I got 36.

You take 1/3 times .25 to get 58. Then take 100% minus 58% which is 42%.
Then u take 1/3 times 36= 12. Then .25 times 36 = 9.
Then .42 times 36 = 15.
Add 12+9+15 which is 36.
So my answer is 36

i found out that there are 12 kids who walk to football, 12 who drive to football and 15 who ride the bus to football how i got it was by taking 3 / 36 and 4 / 36 and 15 who ride the bus and i added up the ansewers

There are 36 players on the football squad. I got 36 because
1\3 or 4\12 and 1\4 or 3\12 together equal 7\12 walk and driven by parents. So that would leave 5\12 left for the people who ride the bus. There are only 15 people that ride the bus so if you divide 15 by 3 you get 5\12. So
7\12 times 3 equals 21 people plus 15 equals 36. So there are 36 players on the football squad.

36 players players because if you take the 25% that got rides and the 33% who walked and add them. Which = 58% take 100%-58%=42%. 42%=15 kides. then take 42 divided by 15 which =2.8 then take 100 divided by 2.8 witch =35.7128571 ronded = 36

The football team has 36 player. First you have to find a number divisble by 3 and 4, 36 is. Then you have to multiply 36 by 1/3 and you get 12. And then you multiply 36 by 25% and you get 9. And then you add take those numbers and the 15 players that ride the bus you add them up and get 36!(:

There are 34 players on Bills team because you take 1/3 and turn that into a % which would be 33%. Then you add 25% and then you have 58%. Then you subtract 58% from 100 and you get 42%. The 42% is the 15 players so then the 58% is the other 19 players.

There are thirty-six players on Bill's team, not counting Bill. I found my answer by taking the information and turning them into percentages. I turned one third into thirty-three and a third percent, kept twenty five percent the same, and added the two. After adding I rounded the total, fifty eight and one third percent to fifty eight percent for the time being. I did this two ways, the first way I rounded up to fifty nine percent, the second I did it to fifty eight percent. The second way worked better for me because later on I would round up which I will explain also. I took the fifty eight percent subtracted it from one hundred because I was going to put it into a porportion, and I needed to know what percent the remaining 15 kids were to find the whole. My porportion was like this, fourty-two over one hundred is equal to fifteen over n or the total number of students. To find my answer I cross multiplied, so my work underneath was fifteen hundred is equal to fourty-two n. Divide fifteen hundred by fourty-two and fourty-two n by fourty-two, I got approximately 36, which is equal to n. However my answer did not end up to be exact, I rounded up while dividing, instead of going 35.71etc. I rounded to thirty-six and checked my answer by going back and seeing if thirty-six could be made into thirds and quarters. Those calculations turned out right so I stuck with my answer of thirty-six players. However this does work out, I do not know if this survey includes Bill or not.

36 players are on the team.your proplem starts out x*41.666666%=15
becouse 1/3or 33.3333%+25%=58.3333%which leaves 41.666%=15 players riding the bus. Divide both sides by 41.6666%, x=36 yippie

There is 36 people on his football team because if you take 42\15 for the people whos parents take them you get 2.8 peolpe per pencent. then you take 33/2.8 and get 12. Then you take 25/2.8 ang get 9. Then u add them up and get and get 36

15 represents 5/12 of the team. 1/3 represents 4/12, and 1/4 represents 3/12. 4/12+3/12= 7/12. 5(3)=15 and 7(3)= 21, and 21+15 =36 total players.

I think the answer is there is 36 players becuz if 42 percent is 15 peeple then 58 percent is 21 people

40 because 1/3 of 40 is 15 and 25% of 40 is 10 and theres 15 other kids and 15+10+15=40

There are 36 players on the team. I found an equivalent denominator for 1/3 and 1/4. 4/12=3/12. 1/3=4/12. I then added 4 and 3 together to equal 7. The remaining 15 must be the remaining 5/12 of 12/12. I found a pattern - the numerator times 3. 5 times 3 equals 15, so 12 times 3 equals 36 players.

There was 36 players on Bill's football squad. To find my answer first, I made all the numbers into a percent. I changed 1/3 into
33.3%. Then, I took 33.3% plus 25% which equals 58.3%. Next, I took 100% minus 58.3% which equals
41.7%. This tells me that the 15 players that ride the bus equals 41.7%. Finally, 15 divided by 41.7%tells me that there were 36 players on Bill's football squad.

There are 36 players on the football team. You need to determine the least common denominator of the two known fractions. So 4/12 of the players walked and 3/12 of the players were driven. A total of 7/12 of the players either walked or drove. That means 5/12 of the players took the bus. 5/12 of the total players has to equal 15. 15 divided by 5/12= 15/1 * 12/5 = 180/5= 36

36 because 15+1/4+1/3 1/4=3/12
1/3=4/12 15=5/12 so 1/3 = 12and 1/4=9

if you go and turn all the #s into %s then you have: 33% walk, 25% driven, 42% bus. then based on the 15 that ride on the bus you get 9 driven by thier parents, 12 that walk and 15 who ride the bus.therefore there are 36 members of the football team.

60 kids. first u take 1/3 and 25%(1/4) plus each other. and that is 3/4. which is 75% wich makes 15 25% u take 15 times 4 and u get 60 kids
